someone just shoot me now

Only 6 days into summer break and I am about done with kids. Lest you forget, I am unemployed girl, and I spend a lot of time by myself. And it was good. Now, I have 2 slugs that do nothing but alternate between the television and computer. Or both. Or neither. That's when the whining and bickering begin.
Evan refuses to clean his room, so he's not allowed to play with anyone until he buckles down and does it. We've been having this struggle for months, and now that school is out I don't want any excuses...just do it. Emma did hers (she didn't do the closet and that is a whole other arguement, but the doors are closed and I don't have to look at it), and now just sits and does nothing. I try to get her to call people, but she won't. She would rather just complain. Her BFF is not only NOT her BFF anymore, they aren't even F's at all. Which stinks, but whatever. (She told Em that they had grown apart and that they shouldn't hang out. Leaving Em no choice in the matter. And who wants friends like that?)
The most annoying part is  that I am constantly cleaning up after them! It was aenough before they were home all the time, but now it's ALL DAY LONG. I'm about ready to spaz on someone.
Oh wait, I did that. They didn't care.
It's going to be a long summer.

You could swap with me... factor in a huge move and add a third child to the mix just to spice things up a bit. I'm certain we won't make it to July, much less the end of the summer! Good luck to you all! :-)

What if Evan were to tackle his room in small chunks, such as five minute bursts throughout the day? When Ellie's room gets like that, I'll have her spend 5 minutes just picking up stuffed animals, then another 5 minutes on books. She really can't envision doing the whole project, but if I break it down into smaller, easier tasks, then she understands what she needs to do.

Hi Sue, poor you know exactly how you feel. My 15 yr old hates cleaning his room but knows that if he doesnt I will go in there with a garbage bag and put everything into it that isnt put away and throw it out. That means computer games too, if they cant look after it they cant have it. He usually ends up doing it and there is no tv until it is done, holidays or not. Maybe you will have to use tough love on them, lol!!

This is so funny...it is my life. I'm also at home by myself most of the time and now I have 3 of them aged 17, 15 & 6 at home, doing nothing for 6 weeks. All I seem to be doing is supervising, then shouting. It's nice to know others are going through the same.
